Waxed hot rolled steel

Directly from the foundry, the metal sheet cools down and oxidizes unevenly as it takes shape, creating irregular shades on the surface ranging from grey to blue.

Use a cotton or microfibre cloth dampened with water and neutral detergent, rubbing it all over the surface. Remove the remaining detergent with a clean cloth dampened only with water. Then, dry the surface. It is advisable to test any new cleaning agents on areas which are not on view. It is advisable to protect the surfaces regularly by applying a thin layer of beeswax, carnauba wax or similar waxes for furniture: read the instruction for use and application indicated on the packaging. Spread it out with care on a dry surface and work it until it becomes soft. The layer must be even.

To preserve the finish, it is advisable to avoid egreasing products or materials that can damage the protective wax layer; acids, as they may facilitate the formation of oxidation; bleach, ammonia or limescale removers; abrasives (e.g., sponges) or products with microparticles, as they can scratch the surface. Prolonged contact with some substances can generate halos. It is advisable to rinse thoroughly in case of spillage on the surface.
